Big Change vs Mind Change

Some of you already know you want to make a huge change — and that’s great. I want to help you do that.

Others feel comfortable with life as it is, but still want… more. Not necessarily a new spouse, career, or religion — just more.

Here’s the good news: you can get more out of life without overhauling your circumstances. You don’t have to change everything to feel fulfilled — unless you want to. The real shift begins in your mind.

Last Week’s Challenge

Most of us live on mental auto-pilot, repeating 70–90% of the same thoughts every single day. Becoming aware of those thoughts takes practice — and that’s why I gave you last week’s challenge.

Did you try it? Five to ten minutes a day, for five days, simply noticing what’s going on in your mind and writing it down.

If you did — what insights came up for you? Did you notice patterns? Were the same thoughts popping up again and again? I’d love to hear what you discovered.

If you didn’t — that’s okay too. I’d still like to hear from you. What got in the way?

This Week’s Challenge

Keep going with the same five-day, 5–10 minute practice, but now add one more layer: For each thought you write down (start with your top three), ask yourself:

  1. Identify the source – Where did this thought come from? Childhood? TV? A religious leader? Work? Is it something you would have chosen on purpose?
  2. Evaluate its usefulness – Does this thought serve you now? Some beliefs were helpful in the past but may hold you back today. For example: “Don’t interrupt the teacher” might have served you in school, but now shows up as “Don’t speak up in meetings,” which isn’t helping you.
  3. Decide if you’ll keep it – Do you want to keep thinking this thought, or replace it with something more empowering? Using the example above: “As an adult, I have experience and ideas that are relevant and deserve to be heard.”

Make It Stick

If you miss a day, no problem. Just pick up where you left off. It can help to do this at the same time each day or tie it to something you already do daily — like right after brushing your teeth.

Every minute you spend noticing and questioning your thoughts is an investment in your future self. Even a few minutes a day can start rewiring the way you see your life. And that’s where the magic happens.
